Is this as good as it gets?
Do you feel weighed down, kicked around, or overwhelmed?
Haunted by shame and guilt?
Are joy and peace elusive?
Does just getting out of bed seem to take all your energy?
Have struggles, trials, difficulties, conflicts, or change dominated you?
Life can be so hard at times.
Everyone experiences times of transition, adversity, or setbacks.
And it’s during these times, we often wonder – is this as good as it gets?
Individual counseling can give you a new attitude.
My name is Dr. Lonnie Bryant, and it is my belief that life can always get better. I also believe that life can seem better, even if it isn’t, if you change your perspective.
The truth is that life is 1 percent circumstances and 99 percent attitude. It’s not really about what you are going through but how you perceive it and react to it.
But when going through tough times, it can be hard to see clearly or improve your attitude.
All humans benefit from having someone to talk to – someone to help guide them – when life is hard.
With my help, you can find peace and joy – even amid chaos and difficulties.
Take care in selecting a confidant for individual counseling.
Choosing to be vulnerable can be difficult and scary.
Will the person judge you or shame you? Will they share your secrets with others or gossip behind your back? Do they know how to give good advice?
While everyone can benefit from talking to someone, you want to be careful about who you choose to “vent” to or trust for guidance.
For instance, venting to a co-worker about a mean, inexperienced boss can potentially backfire. More than one person has been burned by that co-worker sharing their thoughts about the boss.
Being vulnerable requires trust and confidentiality.
You want to be sure you can trust the person you choose and that he/she will give you good advice and not ever judge you or shame you.
You need assurance that you are safe, and the things you discuss will be held with the utmost confidentiality.
You should choose someone who cares and is knowledgeable and experienced.
In addition, if you are a Christian, you need someone who will give sound Biblical advice. (While I am a Christian counselor, I will not push Christianity on someone who is not.)
Individual Counseling Is Not…
…like television, where you lay down on a couch and spill all your troubles while I nod my head and analyze you as I occasionally ask, “And how does that make you feel?”
To the Contrary, Individual Counseling Is…
…a journey we take together through conversation.
My role is to meet you wherever you are, no matter what your issues. I will listen, guide you, ask questions, offer ideas, and stimulate your thoughts.
As we work together as a team, new understandings arise.
Guidance is provided, but you make the final choice.
When we come to a “fork in the road” that requires you to select a path, I can let you know which way I believe is best for you.
Also, I can give input and ask questions to help you determine which is best. But I will not tell you what to do or not do. You are in charge.
Questions will pop up, realizations will be made, ideas will come to mind, and the puzzle pieces will start fitting together.
You will have a chance to process, grow, and improve as you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and learn new, healthy coping skills, and begin to see things in a new light.
Take care in selecting the right therapist for you.
The real question is not about “if” you should seek counseling. The better question is “who”?
My experiences and qualifications include a doctorate in counseling from seminary and over 30 years of assisting thousands of individuals, couples, and families in experiencing happier, healthier lives.
I can help you, too.
My counseling is solution-focused, and most of my clients see positive results in a few short weeks.
You can rest assured that I care about you and every aspect of your life, and that all counseling is 100 percent confidential.
Maybe your needs are more aligned with life coaching. If so, I am also trained and qualified as a coach.

Do you work with Anger Management?
One of my specialties is anger management; and, believe it or not, anger is the root cause of many other issues. For instance, most often depression, anxiety, and addiction are related to suppressed anger.
Anger is also a huge contributor to relationship issues, divorce, affairs, abuse, and can even lead to job loss and arrest.
My focal groups range from preteens to geriatric.
I work with clients of all ages, preteen to geriatric.
Because I do not conduct play therapy, I do prefer my clients be old enough to communicate and discuss issues. Depending on maturity and development, this is usually around age 10 or 11.
I particularly enjoy working with adolescents. While they frequently resist counseling at first, they tend to become motivated to change once they realize you care, and they can trust you.
I also offer pre-marital counseling packages and am certified by the state as a Twogether counselor. Upon completion of your pre-marital counseling with me, you will receive a Twogether certificate, which entitles you to up to $60 off your marriage license fee and allows you to waive the 72-hour waiting period.
Sessions vary depending on client preference.
To allow maximum flexibility for my clients, I offer counseling sessions face-to-face and over-the-phone – with or without video. You can choose one or do a mixture, whichever you prefer.
While most clients prefer in-person counseling, some like the flexibility the phone allows. More and more clients are finding that phone sessions not only negate the drive-time, but relieve them of the stresses of driving through traffic or running late.
Phone/video sessions also allow a greater level of anonymity – instead of worrying someone may see them entering a counseling office, they can receive help in the privacy of their own home, car, or wherever they happen to be.
Phone sessions also allow a continuation of counseling when clients are traveling or unavailable to come to the office for other reasons.
